The Surgical Technologies Experimental Laboratory and Advanced Robotics (STELLAR) center is positioned at the interface between clinical medicine and advanced applied technology, so as to provide an agile development infrastructure for health care workers to propose technical challenges, and for technical experts to respond in reiterative fashion. Both parties are provided with consultant experts in their respective cross-domains and a strong partnership with the University-Industry Liason Office (UILO) ensures timely and effective intellectual property protection and a streamlined patent process.
An additional mandate of STELLAR is the conduct of advanced research projects in pioneering medical technologies. Our current work seeks to continue the trend from minimally invasive surgery to noninvasive targeted ablative therapy.
The center is currently housed at the Vancouver General Hospital and Gordon & Leslie Diamond Health Care Center in Vancouver, Canada and partners with numerous faculties at the University of British Columbia in order to provide excellence in innovation in applied medical technology.
